  • Mr. Mel Velasco Velarde, Chairman of the Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication and NOW Group, led the awarding of the historic Murillo Velarde 1734 Map to the Office of the Solicitor General.

     

    Then incumbent Solicitor General Jose Calida, along with other officials of the Philippine government accepted the replica of the 300-year-old map on June 8, 2017, in time of their 116th anniversry with the theme, "Onward to Greatness."
