Guardians of the Soul of the Nation.

Inspired by the journey of the Murillo Velarde 1734 Map—a living witness to truth, memory, and dignity—the Velarde Prize calls together a community of guardians who protect stories, people, and places that keep a nation’s soul alive. Unlike awards that only recognize individual achievement, the Velarde Prize gathers ordinary citizens, leaders, and organizations into a shared vocation: to guard human dignity, heal historical wounds, and build trustworthy institutions rooted in memory and hope.
