MASTER OF ARTS IN JOURNALISM PROGRAM
The Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication (AIJC) Graduate School offers the Master of Arts in Journalism Program for professionals who are using all media and communication channels through which news, messages, and other data are disseminated. Channels include physical and online newspapers and magazines, television, radio, the Internet, and forms of current social media.
This Master of Arts in Journalism program aims to describe the various ways through which we communicate in society. Courses in the program highlight the tasks and the benefits that accrue to a journalist as a media professional.
The Master of Arts in Journalism program focuses on knowledge and skills in news development, identification and analysis of current journalism issues, study and evaluation of journalism practices, and integration of new ICT in news development and newsroom management.
Among the Institute’s professors are well-known academics, communication specialists, veteran print and broadcast journalists and ICT experts.
AIJC’s programs are ladderized, enabling the student to earn certificates while moving toward the masters’ degree:
• First 15 units – Graduate Certificate
• Second 12 units – Graduate Diploma
• Final 12 units – Masters’ Degree
Taking up a master's degree in journalism opens doors to a range of careers where your creativity, writing, communication and research skills are invaluable. You may become part of corporate communications agencies, advertising and marketing companies, PR consultancies, foundations, and non-governmental organizations. You can also work with the government as Public Information Officer (PIO).
As an M.A. in Journalism graduate, organizations such as creative digital media companies, national, regional, and local newspapers (print and online), media and broadcast companies, radio and television stations, and magazines will open their doors to you.
