Murillo Velarde 1734 Map Turnover with Philippine Coast Guard

On February 13, 2023, a commemorative Murillo Velarde 1734 Map was turned over to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Headquarters in Manila as a significant "piece of Philippine culture and identity, as a moral and historical proof of her sovereign territorial rights, as a land title of ownership of every Filipino.” Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication (AIJC) and NOW Group Chairman Mel V. Velarde led the "Pledge to Protect the Murillo Velarde 1734 Map and Its Ideals."
